The holiday season has arrived, and Magazine Street has all that you need for decorating, shopping, pampering and entertaining. From the CBD to Audubon Park, New Orleans’ historic Magazine Street offers six miles of shopping, dining, art, activities and entertainment for all ages!

This year, Merriment on Magazine runs from the day after Thanksgiving and Small Business Saturday through Christmas Eve and includes special activities for the season:

Orleans Parish senior centers co-host celebration of The Older Adults Cookbook Project

Senior centers across Orleans Parish have contributed to The Older Adults Cookbook Project celebration entitled “A Lifetime of Delicious Memories”. The celebration will be held on Friday, December 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carrollton-Hollygrove Senior Center, located at 3300 Hamilton Street. The event will feature an opening welcome, “Tales from the Dish”, in which seniors recount their favorite recipes and fond memories of cooking, and special gratitude to the Edgar Jr. & Leah Chase Family Foundation for grant support of this project.

Freret Beer Room pairs 16 craft beers on tap with full menu to match

While the Freret Beer Room’s primary focus is all in its name, the new restaurant’s 16 craft beers on tap are also meant to be paired with a full lunch and dinner menu from a chef who’s served in some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants.

“We aim to marry good food and good beer,” owner Eli Gay said. “We’re sort of presenting beer in a way that you would see wine at most restaurants.”
