Three teens arrested in string of armed robberies

A 17- and two 16-year-olds were arrested Wednesday (April 19) for two attempted armed robberies in the Uptown area and one armed robbery near City Park. The New Orleans Police Department determined the teens had gone on a robbery spree targeting women. In the first robbery, a 65-year-old woman was retrieving items out of her white 2004 BMW on the 1100 block of City Park Avenue when she was approached by two male teenagers, shortly after 10 a.m.
One was armed with a handgun and demanded her keys. She complied and the robbers fled in her vehicle, followed by a shiny blue Honda. Later that morning, at 11:30 a.m., a 53-year-old woman was approached on the 1300 block of Octavia Street by two male teens.

Police blotter: Four armed robberies and two batteries reported in Uptown neighborhood

Four armed robberies and two aggravated batteries were reported in Uptown neighborhoods during the past week, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The battery occurred Sunday (June 5) in the 9000 block of Olive Street. Two men were in a fight at about 10:30 a.m., police said, when one was struck with an unknown object. The victim, 33, was taken to the hospital. A suspect, 59-year-old Kevin Williams, was arrested on scene.

NOPD announces arrests in Uptown carjackings

The New Orleans Police Department announced the arrests of three suspects, including one juvenile, in recent Uptown carjackings and vehicle thefts. Police have also obtained arrest warrants in a carjacking near St. Charles and Louisiana avenues and arrested a suspect in a Hoffman Triangle shooting. Rash of carjackings continues across Uptown neighborhoods

Carjackings and other robberies are becoming commonplace in Uptown neighborhoods, according to New Orleans Police Department reports from the past week. Early Wednesday morning (Jan. 12), a 48-year-old man was robbed by a group of men at Earhart and South Lopez streets. At about 1:25 a.m. the men grabbed the victim and forced him to the ground. They held him down, took his wallet from his pocket and ran off.

Three vehicle thefts were reported in Uptown neighborhoods this week. The first, with four victims, took place in broad daylight in Central City. Three men, ages 48, 43 and 37, and a woman, 32, were in a car in the 2200 block of Terpsichore Street at about 12:30 p.m. when a man opened the driver’s door and demanded everyone get out, implying that he had a gun. The victims complied, and the carjacker fled in the victims’ gray 2021 Toyota Corolla, with Oklahoma license plate NPP 9069. The other carjacking reported on Wednesday was in the University area.

Three juveniles arrested in recent vehicle thefts, carjacking

The NOPD has arrested three juveniles suspected in separate vehicle thefts that occurred Friday (Nov. 12) and Saturday, including a car theft in the Costco parking lot and a carjacking in the Xavier University parking lot. Police announced Wednesday (Nov. 17) that a juvenile was booked in the ongoing investigation of an armed robbery on Friday in the Costco parking lot. At about 6:30 p.m. a woman was loading groceries into her car when two gunmen approached and demanded her keys.

New Orleans Police Department crime reports show a rash of vehicle thefts and carjackings over the past week, with multiple incidents in the Lower Garden District and on or near South Carrollton Avenue. Shoppers were targeted in robberies at Costco on Carrollton and the Magnolia Marketplace on South Claiborne Avenue. Two stabbings and a shooting were also reported in Uptown neighborhoods. The victims in that incident were two 55-year-old women and a 22-year-old man. They were in a car in the 2200 block of Valmont Street, between LaSalle and Freret streets, at about 4 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12) when a black sedan drove up.
