A woman was robbed of her cellphone Tuesday night on Joliet Street by a trio of teens, one wielding a handgun with an unusual laser sight, New Orleans police said.

The victim — a woman in her 30s — was near Edinburgh and Joliet streets around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the three teens confronted her, according to NOPD reports. One pointed a “small black revolver equipped with a laser” at her and demanded her belongings, but she said she didn’t have any cash and grabbed the gun barrel, the report states. The gunman tried to yank it away, pulling her to the ground and knocking her cell phone from her pocket, so they snatched it up and left, the report states.

All three attackers were described as black teens around 15 or 16 years old, standing about 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6, the report states. The gunman was thin with a dark skin tone and short hair, wearing a black hoodie and black pants, the report states. One of his accomplices was also thin and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, while the other was heavier with a “low bush hair style, thick eyebrows and a light complexion,” wearing a navy blue hoodie and gloves.
