Police blotter: Shooters target 23-year-old woman, 15-year-old boy; 87-year-old man struck and robbed

Two shootings and a robbery were reported by the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods during the past week. On Wednesday (April 7), a woman was shot multiple times in Central City. Sixth District officers investigating a shooting just before 5 p.m. found the 23-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of at Freret Street, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Medical responders took her to a hospital for treatment. Police said gunmen opened fire on the woman, and she was shot as she was fleeing the bullets.

Police blotter: Two shootings, an armed robbery, a stabbing

Two shootings were reported in Central City this week, including a drive-by that left a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. In the other, a single bullet injured a man in the back. Woman found dead in second Hoffman Triangle shooting of the weekend

A woman was found face down in an open field in the Hoffman Triangle on Sunday (March 7) afternoon, the New Orleans Police Department. Police have classified the death as a homicide. Sixth District police officers arrived at the 3100 block of Second Street on Sunday at 12:38 p.m. They found the woman lying the field and later discovered an apparent gunshot wound. Medical responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The Coroner’s Office identified the victim on March 12 as Sarah Blalock. Blalock died of her wound at 34.

Police blotter: Shootings in Central City, Hoffman Triangle leave two injured

On Sunday — a day after a shooting in Central City left two men dead — two shootings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods. Early Sunday (Feb. 21), a 39-year-old man was driving in the 2800 block of Roman Street when shots were fired at his car. He was struck in the gunfire and drove himself to the emergency room. The shooting was reported to the NOPD at 2:52 a.m.

At 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Sixth District officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Loyola Avenue, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police blotter: Three shootings, four armed robberies reported in Uptown neighborhoods during weekend

Uptown neighborhoods saw a rise in violent crime over the weekend, with three shootings, four armed robberies and an attempted carjacking among the crimes reported. On Monday, a suspect, Phillip Barbarinin, was arrested in connection with four of the armed robberies, the two in the Audubon and the two in the Carrollton area. Police blotter: Shootings, armed robberies, stabbings, carjackings throughout Uptown neighborhoods

Uptown neighborhoods saw their share of violence during the past week. In addition to a homicide in the Lower Garden District, at least three shootings, four armed robberies, four carjackings and two stabbings were reported in the Second and Sixth districts of the New Orleans Police Department. Armed robbery: At about 1:45 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 23), two men entered Danny’s Food Store at 2000 Earhart Boulevard, displayed a gun and demanded money from the register. The clerk handed over cash from the register, and the gunmen fled.

Shootings reported in Central City, Hollygrove on Wednesday afternoon

Two shootings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods Wednesday afternoon. In both, the New Orleans Police Department learned of the violence when the victim arrived at a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. The first occurred around noon in Hollygrove. The victim, a 34-year-old man, was walking near Belfast and Monroe streets when a car drove up and someone fired gunshots at him from inside the vehicle. He was taken to the emergency room via a private conveyance, the NOPD reported.

Police blotter: Shootings reported in Central City and Leonidas

Sixth District officers were called to a shooting at Magnolia and Sixth streets Wednesday night at 10:51 p.m. When they arrived, however, no victim was found at the scene. In the Leonidas neighborhood on Monday (June 1), a 25-year-old man was shot by three men in a white four-door Dodge Charger with a black bumper. The victim was walking near Green and Eagle streets with the men began shooting from the car. He was hit in the left foot. On Monday at about 7:15 a.m., two victims were shot during a burglary in the 1200 block of Freret Street in Central City.

15-year-old wounded in Hollygrove shooting

Two separate shootings, one involving a 15-year-old victim, were reported in the Hollygrove area on Thursday (April 9). The first occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of Forshey Street. A newer model white Ford F-150 pulled alongside the victim, a 15-year-old male. The driver, who was wearing a ski mask, opened fire, striking victim multiple times in the legs. At 10:52 p.m., Second District NOPD officers were called to the 2500 block of Monroe Street, near Eagle Street.

Shootings with injuries reported in Gert Town and Milan areas

A shooting in Gert Town and another in the Milan area left two men injured, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The first incident occurred Friday (Feb. 14) about 7:50 p.m. at Pine and Stoelitz streets. A 35-year-old man was walking along the sidewalk when he was approached by two assailants with hoodies over their heads. The victim was running from them when he realized he was shot in his right leg.
