Police blotter: Shootings in Hollygrove and Hoffman Triangle, stabbing in Central City

The New Orleans Police Department reported two shootings and a stabbing in Uptown neighborhoods on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday (June 14), a 19-year-old male was walking in the 8200 block of Palm Street at about 9 p.m. when two gunmen approached him from behind and began firing. The victim was struck once and transported to an emergency room. The other shooting occurred Tuesday about 1:30 a.m. The victim, a 37-year-old man, was in the 3000 block of Second Street, near South Claiborne Avenue, when a sport utility vehicle pulled up. A man got out and began firing, striking the victim.

A 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a teenager were at Jackson Avenue and South Saratoga Street at about 7 p.m. when a man walked up and began firing a gun. All three victims were struck. The Emergency Medical Service took two of the victims to the emergency room, and a third arrived in a private vehicle.

14-year-old shot multiple times near playground in one of two Central City shootings on Monday

Two shootings were reported minutes apart in Central City on Monday (April 19) evening, according to the New Orleans Police Department. In one shooting, a 14-year-old boy was found at A.L. Davis Park suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died from his wounds the following day. Sixth District officers found the teen in the 2700 block of La Salle Street at about 7:40 p.m. while responding to a report of gunfire in the area, police said. He was transported to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Service.

Two shootings and a robbery were reported by the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods during the past week. On Wednesday (April 7), a woman was shot multiple times in Central City. Sixth District officers investigating a shooting just before 5 p.m. found the 23-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of at Freret Street, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Medical responders took her to a hospital for treatment. Police said gunmen opened fire on the woman, and she was shot as she was fleeing the bullets.

Woman found dead in second Hoffman Triangle shooting of the weekend

A woman was found face down in an open field in the Hoffman Triangle on Sunday (March 7) afternoon, the New Orleans Police Department. Police have classified the death as a homicide. Sixth District police officers arrived at the 3100 block of Second Street on Sunday at 12:38 p.m. They found the woman lying the field and later discovered an apparent gunshot wound. Medical responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The Coroner’s Office identified the victim on March 12 as Sarah Blalock. Blalock died of her wound at 34.

On Sunday — a day after a shooting in Central City left two men dead — two shootings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods. Early Sunday (Feb. 21), a 39-year-old man was driving in the 2800 block of Roman Street when shots were fired at his car. He was struck in the gunfire and drove himself to the emergency room. The shooting was reported to the NOPD at 2:52 a.m.

At 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Sixth District officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Loyola Avenue, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

In addition to a homicide in the Lower Garden District, at least three shootings, four armed robberies, four carjackings and two stabbings were reported in the Second and Sixth districts of the New Orleans Police Department. Armed robbery: At about 1:45 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 23), two men entered Danny’s Food Store at 2000 Earhart Boulevard, displayed a gun and demanded money from the register. The clerk handed over cash from the register, and the gunmen fled.

Shootings reported in Central City, Hollygrove on Wednesday afternoon

Two shootings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods Wednesday afternoon. In both, the New Orleans Police Department learned of the violence when the victim arrived at a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. The first occurred around noon in Hollygrove. The victim, a 34-year-old man, was walking near Belfast and Monroe streets when a car drove up and someone fired gunshots at him from inside the vehicle.
