Two men were killed in separate Uptown shootings on Friday afternoon (Dec. 31).

The first deadly shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. on Martin Luther King Boulevard and South Prieur Street. Gunfire erupted from a vehicle driving through the area — striking a 56-year-old woman, 27-year-old man and 26-year-old man.

Medical responders took Kenyon Coston, 27, to the hospital, where he died of gunshot wounds.

The woman had a gunshot wound in her leg but refused treatment, police said. The 26-year-old male was not at the scene when police arrived. They learned the incident was a triple shooting after he arrived at the emergency for treatment of a graze wound to the leg.

Another man was fatally shot at about 2:20 p.m. in Gert Town.

Corey Brown was in the 7900 block of Oleander Street, near Earhart Boulevard, when a gunman opened fire, striking him in the back before fleeing on foot.

Brown died after he was taken the hospital by the Emergency Medical Service. He was 21.
