Police seeking persons of interest in fatal shooting on parade route

The NOPD is seeking assistance in locating three persons of interest for questioning in the ongoing investigation of a homicide and mass shooting that occurred Feb. 19 as the Krewe of Bacchus parade passed on St. Charles Avenue near Terpsichore Street. A 15-year-old boy was killed in the parade route shooting. Four others were injured, including a 4-year-old girl.

Police blotter: Three robberies, a home invasion, a stabbing

Three robberies, a home invasion, and an assault were reported in Uptown neighborhoods this week, according to information released by the New Orleans Police Department. A 25-year old man was robbed early Wednesday (Feb 22) at St. Charles Avenue and Jackson, according to police. At about 1:30 a.m., the victim was approached by three men who pushed him to the ground before taking his property and fleeing. Two women and a man were victims in a home invasion on Tuesday (Feb 21) around 3 p.m. in Central City.

One killed, four injured in shooting along parade route

One person was killed and four injured as the Krewe of Bacchus parade passed on St. Charles Avenue on Sunday night (Feb. 19), the New Orleans Police Department reported. The crowd gathered to watch Bacchus in the 1600 block of Terpsichore Street scattered, as people took cover to avoid the bullets. The parade continued to roll.

Police blotter: Two shootings, two armed robberies reported Uptown during the weekend

Two shootings, including one injuring a juvenile, and two armed robberies were reported in Uptown neighborhoods by the New Orleans Police Department during the weekend. A store manager was injured during an early morning robbery in the 3200 block of South Carrollton Avenue. An employee was held at gunpoint while leaving the business Monday (Feb. 13) at about 3:40 a.m. A second assailant entered the store and demanded cash from the manager. The manager complied but was struck in the head with a firearm before the two robbers fled.

Early morning shooting in Irish Channel leaves a man dead and woman injured

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday (Feb. 4) in the 2500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street that left a man dead and a woman injured. At about 3:25 a.m, NOPD Second District officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, officers found a male and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services transported the the victims to a local hospital.

Uptowners, reeling over ATM robberies, ask why FBI doesn’t intervene 

The violent robbery of a Capital One Bank ATM and destruction of Uptown’s Tchoup Stop gas station has neighbors in fear for their safety. Many are wondering when the FBI will make an appearance. 

The ATM was stolen with a pickup on Thursday (Feb 2) at 4 a.m. “They repeatedly smashed through the window with a truck,” said a store employee. “They kept hitting it until it fell apart.” Sources say the robbers then tied the machine’s guts to their truck –  including the interior compartment that holds the money – dragging the remnants of the banking machine down Tchoupitoulas Street. During the robbery, the robbers destroyed a brick portion of the building’s wall, a storefront window, the ATM, and the cashier’s booth inside the 5600 Tchoupitoulas business.

Tchoup Stop ATM stolen in early morning smash-and-grab

The ATM in front of the Tchoup Stop gas station and convenience store was ripped out and hauled off early Thursday (Feb. 1), according to the New Orleans Police Department. A pickup reportedly smashed into the store at about 4 a.m., and the thieves pulled out the bank machine. The incident at 5600 Tchoupitoulas St. follows an attempted ATM theft at the Regions Bank, 5409 Tchoupitoulas St., at about 4 a.m. on Jan.

Suspect arrested in double shooting that left one dead

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals on Thursday (Feb. 2) arrested Kentrell Williams, 40, in a homicide on Dec. 22, 2022, in Central City. Corey Carter, 46, was killed and another man was injured by gunfire in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 8 p.m. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene. On Dec.

A shooting, two armed robberies, and a cellphone snatching over a dog-walking spat occurred in Uptown neighborhoods in the past week, according to the New Orleans Police Department. A robbery incident in the Fontainebleau area began when a man was walking his dog Tuesday (Jan. 31) at about 8:30 a.m. When he saw a woman, 29, recording him and his dog in the 4200 block of Vendome Place, he grabbed her cellphone and tossed it. The woman retrieved her phone before the man threw it again and fled, according to police. A 22-year-old woman was struck with a firearm and robbed in the University area Friday (Jan.

Man shot to death in Lower Garden District

A man was fatally shot Sunday night in the Lower Garden District, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 8:30 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the report of a man down inside a building in the 2000 block of Constance Street. They found the victim, who was unresponsive and showed multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. The victim was 53, according to the NOPD.
