Hoffman Triangle sees two deadly shootings in one day

Two fatal shootings were reported in Hoffman Triangle neighborhood on Friday (Aug. 26). The first occurred mid-day in the 2800 block of South Johnson Street. At about 1:25 pm., officers responding to a call found a man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.

Police blotter: Two shootings and a stabbing reported Uptown on Sunday

 

Two men were shot and a blind man was stabbed in Uptown neighborhoods on Sunday (Aug. 22), the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 21-year-old man was injured Sunday evening in the 2600 block of Philip Street, between Robertson and Magnolia streets. The gunman drove up in car and opened fire, striking the victim. The gunman fled, and the man was taken to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Service.

Two shooting deaths reported in 8 hours in Uptown neighborhoods

A man was shot to death in Hoffman Triangle just before midnight on Thursday (July 14). The next morning, another man was killed by gunfire in the Leonidas neighborhood. Police found a man on the ground in the 2800 block of South Rocheblave Street at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, the NOPD reported. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, police said, and died at the scene. Near Claiborne and South Carrollton avenues the next morning, another man was found dead with a gunshot wound.

Mass shooting at Balcony Bar in Garden District blamed on ongoing violent rivalry

Six people were wounded late Friday (April 29) in a shootout at the Balcony Bar & Cafe on Magazine Street in the Garden District. Four women and two men sustained gunshot wounds to the lower body, the New Orleans Police Department said. The group was leaving the bar at about 10:15 p.m. when men in a dark-colored car spotted them and opened fire. The Emergency Medical Service took four female victims, ages 35, 34, 32 and 23, to the hospital. Two men, ages 23 and 25, arrived at an emergency room in a private vehicle, the NOPD reported.

Police blotter: In Central City, double shooting and a shooting and car theft; woman wounded in Hollygrove shooting

Three shootings were reported in the past week in Uptown neighborhoods. A 57-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting Thursday evening (April 21) in Hollygrove. NOPD Second District officers found her suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at about 5:10 p.m.. in the 2600 block of Monroe Street. The Emergency Medical Service took her to the hospital.

NOPD announces arrests in violent crimes committed in Uptown neighborhoods

The New Orleans Police Department announced four recent arrests and a warrant issued in violent crimes committed in Uptown neighborhoods. Perry Briley Sr., 25, was already in Orleans Parish Justice Center when he was rebooked for murder on April 13. Briley was being held on one count of attempted second-degree murder, eight counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and weapons charges that included taking a firearm into a school. He had been arrested on May 13, 2021, in the shooting of Lamont Fletcher in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, near Simon Bolivar Street. On April 12, 11 months after the shooting, Fletcher, 48, died from his wounds.

Police blotter: Shootings injure three men in Hollygrove, Hoffman Triangle

The New Orleans Police Department reported two overnight shootings, injuring three men, in Uptown neighborhoods. Two were injured early Tuesday (April 12) in the Hollygrove area. Police were called to the 9000 block of Edinburgh Street at 1:07 a.m. They found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services took him to the hospital. The second victim, a 19-year-old male, arrived at the emergency room separately.

Police blotter: Six men wounded in three shootings

Three shootings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the weekend. A double shooting Saturday evening (April 9) injured two men in the 8100 block of Palmetto Street, near the Costco. Second District officers were called to the area at 7:39 p.m. They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The Emergency Medical Service took them to the hospital. Police said there was a single shooter in the incident.

Police blotter: Two shootings, carjacking, armed robbery, burglary

Crimes reported this week by the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods include two shootings, an aggravated burglary and the armed theft of two pickup trucks. Double shooting: A double shooting injured a woman and a man in Central City on Wednesday afternoon (March 23). They were walking near Magnolia Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 1 p.m. when gunfire erupted. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered a graze wound to her leg. The Emergency Medical Medical Service brought her to the hospital.
