Driver pulled from car and robbed while stopped at light in Broadmoor

A driver was robbed while stopped at a red light in Broadmoor on Monday afternoon, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 28-year-old man was approached by a group of assailants at 2:30 p.m. on May 20 while waiting for a light to turn green on Louisiana Avenue Parkway and South Galvez Street, the report states. The victim was pulled from his vehicle. One of the assailants began to strangle the victim while another searched his pockets. They took his wallet and cash and fled on Galvez, turning south on Toledano Street.

NOPD seeks suspects in attempted robbery, criminal damage to property

Fanny pack snatched from 73-year-old on Hollygrove street

A 73-year-old man was robbed in Hollygrove on Sunday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The victim was in the 8700 block of Apricot Street on May 5 at about 1 p.m. when he was pushed to the ground by a man who grabbed his fanny pack. The victim was able to recover his property, but the assailant was not identified or located. Further details were not immediately available. $10,000 stolen from car in Central City

A man forced himself into a car in Central City on Wednesday and stole $10,000 from the back seat, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 39-year-old woman got into her car on May 1 at 2:24 p.m. in the 2900 block of Dryades Street. A man got in the front passenger side, reached into the back and grabbed her lock box. It contained about $10,000 in cash. The victim tried to pry the box from him, but he forcefully grabbed it and fled.

A 33-year-old woman was standing outside a building in the 2100 block of St. Charles Avenue on Tuesday about 4:40 p.m. when a man approached from behind and snatched her wallet from her hand. Purse snatched from woman, 78, as she unlocked her door on Milan

A purse was snatched from a 78-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon as she was entering her home in the Milan neighborhood, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The woman was approached while unlocking her front door in the 1800 block of Milan Street, near Baronne, about 12:30 p.m. on April 3. A man grabbed her purse and fled north on Milan Street on a bicycle. The robber is described as a black man, about 5 feet and 11 inches, wearing a white shirt and dark green pants. His bicycle was a dark color with white trim.

A 48-year-old man was robbed on the street Monday night in Central City, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The victim was at Felicity and South Liberty streets at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday, March 11, when he was approached by four men demanding money. He refused, and one of the assailants struck him and removed the money from his front pocket. The four men fled in an unknown direction. Cellphone snatching reported near Tulane University

New Orleans police are investigating an incident of cellphone snatching in an Uptown neighborhood. On Feb. 20 at 7:36 p.m., a Tulane student was walking on Plum Street when she crossed Broadway and observed three male bicyclists. One of the men broke away from the group and rode up behind her. He snatched her cellphone from her hand at the intersection of Plum and Pine.

Attempted cellphone robberies reported in Lower Garden District

New Orleans police officers have arrested a teenager accused of trying to steal cellphones Monday on and near Magazine Street. Police say Robert Hughes, 18, tried to take a cellphone from 28-year-old man in the 1900 block of Magazine Street as the victim was using it on Feb. 25 about 11 a.m. When the victim resisted, police said, the assailant punched him in the face and fled the scene. An officer found the assailant a few blocks away, on Constance near St. Andrew Street, where he was trying to take a cellphone from a 47-year-old man, the NOPD report states.
