Police blotter: Shooting in Central City, armed robbery on Freret

A shooting and an armed robbery were reported in Uptown neighborhoods on Sunday (May 15). A man suffered multiple bullet wounds in a shooting in Central City on Sunday evening, the New Orleans Police Department reports. The victim was standing at the corner of Josephine Street and Rev. John Raphael Jr Way at about 5:50 p.m. when he heard shots fired, the police report said. He then realized he had been shot multiple times. The Emergency Medical Service took him to the hospital.

NOPD announces arrests in Uptown homicide, shooting and armed robbery

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Armand J. Labranch, 57, on one count of second-degree murder in a Hollygrove shooting death. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on March 25 in the 3000 block of Eagle Street. Derwin Bernard, 32, died at University Medical Center from a single gunshot wound. Labranch remained jailed on Tuesday (May 10) on $300,000 bond, Sheriff’s Office records show. On May 1, Sixth District detectives arrested Tommie Allen, 51, on one count of principle to aggravated second-degree battery.

Police blotter: Driver injured in shootout on I-10, armed robberies and burglary in Hollygrove area

Multiple armed robberies and a burglary were reported recently in the Hollygrove area, and a woman was caught in a shootout between vehicles on Interstate 10 near South Carrollton Avenue, according to the New Orleans Police Department. On Monday afternoon (May 2), a driver was struck by a bullet on Interstate 10 near the Carrollton Avenue exit. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was caught in the crossfire as the occupants of two vehicles began firing at each other at about 2:45 p.m., police said. She was taken to the hospital for treatment. Early on Monday, three men held up a 44-year-old man at gunpoint in Hollygrove.

A shooting, carjacking and three robberies were reported Uptown since Friday (April 1). A 49-year-old man was injured in shooting Monday afternoon (April 4). He was fighting with another man at about 3:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of Washington Avenue, near the cemeteries in Central City. The man took out a gun, shot the 49-year-old in the leg and fled. The Emergency Medical Service took the victim to the hospital.

Crimes reported this week by the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods include two shootings, an aggravated burglary and the armed theft of two pickup trucks. Double shooting: A double shooting injured a woman and a man in Central City on Wednesday afternoon (March 23). They were walking near Magnolia Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 1 p.m. when gunfire erupted. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered a graze wound to her leg. The Emergency Medical Medical Service brought her to the hospital.

Ogden Street are among the crimes reported recently by the New Orleans Police Department. The NOPD is investigating an early morning shooting Tuesday (Feb. 15) in the 2100 block of South Claiborne Avenue, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Initial reports show that 6th District officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 1:45 a.m. They found a 23-year-old male with gunshot wounds.
