The New Orleans Police Department announced recent arrests in a carjacking and shooting in the Milan neighborhood and an armed robbery in Touro-Bouligny. A juvenile suspect accused of shooting a 59-year-old man during a carjacking was an escapee from the Bridge City Center for Youth, according to media reports. Authorities say he was one of six teens who broke out of the juvenile jail on July 17. He remained at large for hours after the other five were apprehended. A carjacking and an armed robbery were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the weekend. A 29-year-old man was at Bordeaux and Perrier streets on Saturday (July 23) at 2:10 a.m., when two armed men demanded his things. After the victim complied, the men fled in a dark-colored sedan on Bordeaux. The carjacking occurred Friday (July 22) at 10:30 p.m. Two men, ages 30 and 32, were in their car at Second and Willow streets. 

Two armed men in a black sport utility vehicle pulled up alongside the victims and demanded they turn over the keys to the car and other items. After the victims complied, one assailant fled in their car and the other fled in the black SUV. Further details were not immediately available.

A 70-year-old man was injured in a shooting apparently stemming from a road-rage incident on Wednesday evening (July 20). The victim was in an auto accident at Baronne and Philip streets at about 6:25 p.m. After both drivers got out of their vehicles, the other driver pulled a gun on the 70-year-old and fired multiple shots. The Emergency Medical Service brought the victim to a local hospital. Police arrested a suspect, Nathaniel Anderson, 30, at the scene. Anderson is currently held on one count of possessing a weapon as a felon and a parole violation.

An armed carjacking, a shooting and an armed robbery were reported in Uptown neighborhoods since Thursday (July 14) morning. A 59-year-old man was injured in a carjacking Sunday afternoon (July 17) in the Uptown neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The victim was in the 5600 block of Loyola Avenue, near Nashville Avenue, at about 4:10 p.m. A man and a woman pulled up in a stolen vehicle, police said. The carjackers shot the man before driving off in his car. The Emergency Medical Service brought him to the hospital.

The New Orleans Police Department reported an armed robbery and a carjacking in Uptown neighborhoods this week. The armed robbery occurred Wednesday (July 14) in the 1700 block of Upperline Street, near Carondelet Street. Just before 11 a.m., a 46-year-old man was held up at gunpoint by two men. The victim turned over his belongings; police did not specify what was taken. The carjacking occurred Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of Adams Street, by the Carrollton Cemetery.

A 24-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint by three juveniles at Audubon Boulevard and Walmsley Avenue on Sunday (July 10) at 5:10 p.m. The three assailants were quickly apprehended after police chased them on foot. Two armed carjackings occurred just hours apart in the Leonidas neighborhood. In the first, a 60-year-old woman was targeted. She was carjacked by three armed men Friday (July 8) at the 2600 block of Dante Street at 5:50 p.m. The gunmen fled in her 2012 white Buick Verano.

An armed robbery and three stabbings were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the Fourth of July weekend, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The armed robbery took place Monday morning (July 4). A man and a woman were walking in the 2000 block of St. Andrew Street at 11:30 p.m., when two men held them at gunpoint demanding their belongings. After the woman gave over her purse and the man surrendered his phone and wallet, one of the assailants hit the woman in the face.

An armed burglary, a carjacking, a vehicle theft and an attempted carjacking were reported recently in Uptown neighborhoods. Three armed men stormed a Central City home early Wednesday (June 15) and drove off in a car belonging to one of the victims, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 3 a.m., the gunmen forced their way into a home in the 3000 block of Loyola Avenue and threatened the two residents, a 39-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. They demanded the woman turn over her car keys, which she did. The fled in her vehicle, which was later recovered.

Four armed robberies and two aggravated batteries were reported in Uptown neighborhoods during the past week, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The battery occurred Sunday (June 5) in the 9000 block of Olive Street. Two men were in a fight at about 10:30 a.m., police said, when one was struck with an unknown object. The victim, 33, was taken to the hospital. A suspect, 59-year-old Kevin Williams, was arrested on scene.

15-year-old arrested for armed robbery in Freret neighborhood

On May 16, NOPD Second District officers arrested a 15-year-old boy for two counts of armed robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in a robbery. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident on May 15 in the 4300 block of Willow Street. In that incident, a 31-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were approached from behind just after 10 p.m. while walking near the Ochsner Baptist medical complex. Two gunmen demanded their wallets and other items, and they complied. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 504-658-6020 to speak to a detective, or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
