Police seek suspect in vehicle theft and two suspects in vehicle burglary

 

The New Orleans Police Department is seeking to locate and identify a suspect sought in the investigation of an aggravated assault with a firearm that occurred on June 12 in the 2600 block of Canal Street, connected to an auto theft a day before in the Sixth District. The NOPD Sixth District covers the Central City, Garden District and Irish Channel neighborhoods. Police did not specify where the theft took place. On June 11, the pictured man pictured above was allegedly involved in the theft of a black Subaru Forester, bearing Louisiana license plate 946 EBU, in an Uptown neighborhood. The next day, at about 7:45 a.m., the individual reportedly used the stolen Subaru in commission of an aggravated assault with a firearm against three female employees of a business in the 2600 block of Canal street.

Suspects sought in Broadmoor vehicle theft, Irish Channel shooting

The New Orleans Police Department has obtained arrest warrants in two crimes committed in Uptown neighborhoods. Kevin Lee, 43, is wanted for a vehicle theft that occurred on May 4. Lee is accused of taking an acquaintance’s car keys after she fell asleep around 2:30 a.m. Her Honda SUV was stolen from the 3700 block of South Roman Street. On May 23, NOPD Sixth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Darryl Jones, 33, for aggravated battery by shooting and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. A photo of Jones was not available, police said.

Ambulance stolen outside Touro Infirmary emergency room

An Emergency Medical Services ambulance was stolen outside the Touro Infirmary emergency room on Thursday (April 22), the New Orleans Police Department reported. The ambulance was unattended in the 1400 block of Foucher Street when a man got in and drove off. As he fled, he struck multiple vehicles — including an NOPD unit, police said. New Orleans police officers later found the ambulance in Gert Town, and a suspect was taken into custody at Earhart Boulevard and Pine Street. No injuries were reported in the incident.

16-year-old arrested in armed vehicle theft, vehicle burglaries

The NOPD has arrested a 16-year-old male suspected in the investigation of an armed robbery of a vehicle in the Fontainebleau area on Saturday (Jan. 23). He is also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. The armed robbery occurred about 7:15 p.m. in the 4500 block of Eden Street. The victim, a 23-year-old man, exited his white Kia while leaving it running.

NOPD releases photos from parking-lot vehicle thefts

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two vehicle thefts incidents at a gas station in the 3400 block of South Carrollton Avenue. On Jan. 4 at about 12:55 a.m., the victim left his 2012 silver Infiniti QX56 running while he entered the Magnolia Discount convenience store. A 2019 blue Kia Soul bearing Louisiana license plate N543133 pulled up beside the Infinity, at which time the driver exited the Kia, entered the Infinity and drove away with the Kia following. The Kia was reported stolen during a simple robbery in the 4500 block of Walmsley Avenue earlier this month.

Five teens arrested in Broadmoor vehicle theft

The New Orleans Police Department arrested five teenagers in an April 30 vehicle theft in the 4600 block of South Johnston Street. Alkia Edwards, 18, and four unnamed juvenile males were taken in on the same day. Edwards was released two days later; records are not available on the other arrestees because of their status as juveniles. Edwards was released Saturday, Sheriff’s Office records show, after being arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for simple burglary, unauthorized use of a moveable, resisting arrests, illegal possession of a firearm, delinquency of a juvenile and for illegal drug possession. On Friday (May 1), Edwards appeared at Magistrate Court held by video conferencing.

German shepherd stolen along with pickup truck in Lower Garden District

A German shepherd was inside a pickup stolen in the Lower Garden District on Tuesday and remains missing, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The NOPD is seeking to locate the vehicle and the dog. The owner parked his white 2010 Nissan Frontier pickup truck, bearing Louisiana license plate number X733490, in the 1100 block of Felicity Street, at about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The pickup’s engine was running with Marley, the German shepherd, inside.
