Police blotter: Shooting, armed robbery, home invasion

Three major crimes were reported in Uptown neighborhoods on Thursday (Dec. 29): a home invasion, a shooting and an armed robbery. At about 11 p.m., a home invasion was reported in the Lower Garden District.  Police investigating the report in the 800 block of St. Andrew Street found evidence of a home invasion but did not find the victim, a 33-year-old woman. A teenager was injured Thursday night in Central City.

Man killed in Central City double shooting

A shooting Thursday (Dec. 22) left one man dead and another injured on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulvard, the New Orleans Police Department reported. Around 8 p.m. Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near Magnolia Street. Upon arrival, they discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police blotter: Older adults, juveniles targeted in recent crimes

A robbery, a shooting and a home invasion were reported this week in the Sixth District, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Two of the victims are in their 60s, and two are juveniles. Three men robbed a 67-year-old man on Loyola Avenue near the Pontchartrain Expressway early Wednesday (Dec. 14). The victim was walking in the area at about 2:40 a.m. when three men approached.

Double homicide reported Sunday morning in Central City

Two men were shot to death in Central City on Sunday morning (Dec. 4), the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 8:35 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2900 block of Danneel Street, between Sixth and Seventh streets. They found two men with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported by the Emergency Medical Service to a local hospital, where both men died.

Man arrested after 4-year-old boy shoots himself

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody after a toddler shot himself on Sunday (Oct. 2). Police found the 4-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound around 4 p.m. at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Gen. Taylor Street. Lindell Mays was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for responsibilities of owners of firearms with respect to minors. The police did not reveal Mays’ relationship with the 4-year-old.

73-year-old driver shot to death on Pontchartrain Expressway

A 73-year-old man was killed Friday evening (Sept. 30) in a drive-by shooting on the Pontchartrain Expressway, the New Orleans Police Department reported. In response to reports of gunfire, NOPD Sixth District officers arrived at about 8 p.m. to Interstate 10 East near the Norman C. Francis Parkway overpass. They found a vehicle on the shoulder with visible bullet damage. The man in the driver’s seat, later identified as William Manns, had multiple gunshot wounds.

Carrollton shooting leaves man fatally shot inside vehicle, two others injured

A 21-year-old man was killed early Saturday (Sept. 24) in a Carrollton area shooting that wounded two other adult males. The offense occurred at South Carrollton Avenue and Willow Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. Officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 7900 block of Willow Street found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical responders transported them to the hospital. The 21-year old victim was found fatally shot inside of a vehicle.
