Double homicide reported Sunday morning in Central City

Two men were shot to death in Central City on Sunday morning (Dec. 4), the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 8:35 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2900 block of Danneel Street, between Sixth and Seventh streets. They found two men with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported by the Emergency Medical Service to a local hospital, where both men died.

73-year-old tourist beaten to death, suspect arrested in St. Charles Avenue hotel

A 73-year-old man from Missouri was killed Thursday night (Dec. 1) in a hotel on St. Charles Avenue in the Garden District, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A suspect was taken into custody at the scene. At 10:54 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call from Avenue Plaza Hotel employees that someone had pulled the fire alarm and gained access to a room on the sixth floor.

Police seek persons of interest in Thalia Street killing

The New Orleans Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating and identifying two persons of interest in the ongoing investigation of a homicide that occurred on Oct. 5 in the 3500 block of Thalia Street. Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives have developed the two pictured subjects as persons of interest. They were viewed via video surveillance running from the scene. These persons of interest are not currently wanted on criminal charges in this investigation.

73-year-old driver shot to death on Pontchartrain Expressway

A 73-year-old man was killed Friday evening (Sept. 30) in a drive-by shooting on the Pontchartrain Expressway, the New Orleans Police Department reported. In response to reports of gunfire, NOPD Sixth District officers arrived at about 8 p.m. to Interstate 10 East near the Norman C. Francis Parkway overpass. They found a vehicle on the shoulder with visible bullet damage. The man in the driver’s seat, later identified as William Manns, had multiple gunshot wounds.

Carrollton shooting leaves man fatally shot inside vehicle, two others injured

A 21-year-old man was killed early Saturday (Sept. 24) in a Carrollton area shooting that wounded two other adult males. The offense occurred at South Carrollton Avenue and Willow Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. Officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 7900 block of Willow Street found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical responders transported them to the hospital. The 21-year old victim was found fatally shot inside of a vehicle.

Man shot to death on Toledano

A man was shot to death on Friday (Sept. 9) on Toledano near South Claiborne Avenue, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 7:40 p.m., Sixth District police officers found Wilbert Smith, 61, lying in front of a house in the 3000 block of Toledano Street. Smith was unresponsive and had suffered a gunshot wound. Medical responders pronounced him dead on scene.

Man found shot to death on Louisiana Avenue

A man was fatally shot on Louisiana Avenue on Tuesday night (Aug. 30), the New Orleans Police Department reported. Officers were called to the 2200 block of Louisiana, near Loyola Avenue, at 8:34 p.m. They found Kerry Spears suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical responders declared Spears dead at the scene. He was 31.

Two shooting deaths reported hours apart in Hollygrove, Hoffman Triangle

Two homicides occurred just hours apart on Wednesday morning (Aug. 24) in Uptown neighborhoods. A man identified as George Caston, 34, was shot to death in Hollygrove at around 7:30 a.m., the New Orleans Police Department reported. A suspect was detained for questioning, police said. Police did not release information on circumstances of the shooting or the identity of the suspect.

Overnight shooting in Central City leaves 58-year-old man dead

 

A 58-year-old man died in a double shooting early Saturday (Aug. 20) in Central City, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The two victims, both males, were shot just before 3 a.m. in the 2400 block of St. Andrew Street, police said. The Emergency Medical Service brought them to a hospital, where one of the victims died.
