The victim, a man in his 40s, was working under a house in the 1800 block of Hillary Street shortly before 3 p.m. when he heard a man’s voice order him to stand up and empty his pockets, according to the NOPD report.
“The subject put an object to the victim’s back and checked his pockets,” the report states. “The subject fled in possession of $5,100 from the victim’s pockets.”
Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
Guess one lesson is to NOT carry around $5100 in your pocket. How about just carrying $100 and a credit card?
Sounds totally legit. I refuse to work under my house unless I’m carrying AT LEAST $5k.
