Woman’s car taken in armed robbery on South Carrollton, police say

A woman was robbed of her car at gunpoint Sunday evening on South Carrollton Avenue, after another woman was robbed on Washington Avenue, New Orleans police said.

The victim was in the 2400 block of South Carrollton around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, when a man approached her and placed a handgun to her stomach, according to the initial NOPD report. He took her keys and her phone, and then drove off on South Carrollton in her gold 2012 Chevrolet Cruze with North Carolina license plate DBC 5892.

The gunman is described as a slim, 5-foot-11 white man in his mid-20s with short dirty blond or brown hair, last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a red design on the front, black pants, and a black baseball cap with white lettering, the report states.

Earlier on Sunday, a 60-year-old woman was sitting in her car at Magnolia Street and Washington Avenue around 12:30 p.m. when a man got into the passenger seat and pointed a gun at her, according to the report in that case. She handed over her belongings, and he left, the report states.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
