Weekend armed robberies reported on St. Andrew, Erato and Orange streets

Three people were robbed at gunpoint in separate incidents over the weekend on St. Andrew, Erato and Orange streets, New Orleans police said.

The first robbery took place around 9:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the 2000 block of St. Andrew Street (near Danneel Street), when a man in his late 20s was approached from behind by two assailants, according to the initial NOPD report. “One of the subjects was armed and took the victim’s wallet from his back-pocket and fled,” the report states.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, a man in his late 20s was near South Rampart and Erato streets when a “newer-model Suburban” pulled up alongside him, and a man in the passenger seat pointed a gun at him and demanded his belongings, the report in that case states. “The victim complied and perpetrator fled with the victim’s wallet, cell phone and watch,” the report states.

Just before 6 a.m. Sunday, a man in his 50s was heading to his front door in the 1200 block of Orange Street (near Camp Street) when a stranger confronted him, the report in that case states.

“The male pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his wallet,” the report states. “The victim complied. The subject fled.”

Further details were not immediately available in any of the three robberies. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Sixth District station at 658-6060 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
