Vehicle used by gunman in Bellecastle Street beating sought by NOPD

After a man was beaten last week by a gun-wielding assailant on Bellecastle Street, investigators are hoping the public can help identify a suspect using surveillance video of a car believed to have been involved, New Orleans police said.

The victim was sitting in a vehicle in the 900 block of Bellecastle around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 15 when his assailant walked up with a handgun, according to the NOPD news release. The gunman then began hitting the victim on the head before leaving, the report states.

Police are now looking for a vehicle believed to be either a Lexus or a Toyota, the report states.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
