Two women sitting on the curb near the gate leading into the university campuses were robbed at gunpoint overnight, New Orleans police said Friday morning.

The victims, both 18-year-old Tulane students, were sitting in the 6300 block of South Robertson near the Monroe Gate around 2:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, according to a NOPD report. Two men approached, one armed with a black-and-silver handgun, and they searched the women’s pockets, the report state. The gunmen took a cell phone and other property from the women, then left on foot on Calhoun Street, the report states.

Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
