New Orleans police detectives have identified a suspect in a shooting earlier this month on South Saratoga Street, and are hoping the public can help locate him, authorities said.

Lewis Thomas, 36, is sought in connection with a March 19 shooting in the 2800 block of South Saratoga (near Washington Avenue), according to a NOPD news release. Around 10:45 p.m., a man was shot in the upper left leg, and Thomas was later identified as the gunman, the report states.

Thomas is now wanted for attempted second-degree murder, police said. Anyone who can help find him is urged to call the NOPD Sixth District station at 658-6060 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
