Suspect arrested after standoff with police on Lyons Street

A standoff that began early Saturday morning on Lyons Street ended after several hours with the arrest of a suspect, New Orleans police said.

The NOPD SWAT team surrounded a residence in the 700 block of Lyons and closed the intersection of Laurel and Lyons after learning that someone was barricaded inside the home, said NOPD spokesman Aaron Looney around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

The suspect was apprehended by 8 a.m., ending the standoff, Looney said.
