One man killed, five other people wounded in three Central City shootings, police say

One man was killed and five other people were wounded in three separate shootings around Central City over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, New Orleans police said.

Shortly before noon Thursday, Nov. 24, a man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a 2000 Nissan Maxima parked on South Saratoga Street near Erato Street, according to the report in that case.

Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, four people were wounded after a vehicle drove to the intersection of Magnolia and Felicity streets and opened fire, according to the NOPD reports in that case. Three men and a woman were each shot a single time, and shell casings were found along Magnolia Street from Felicity to Martin Luther King Boulevard, the report states.

“One of male victims suffered a gunshot wound to the back, while another suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh,” the report states. “The remaining male victim suffered a gunshot wound to an unspecified area of the body. The female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.”

Around 3 p.m. Saturday, a 23-year-old man was standing near Sixth and Danneel streets when two men wearing hooded sweatshirts approached, and one drew a gun and shot him, the report in that case states. The assailants then headed toward South Claiborne on foot, and the victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg, the report state.
