Police are searching for suspects of armed robberies that happened Monday (NOPD).

New Orleans Police Department Second District officers are seeking suspects in two armed robbery crimes that occurred same day, they said during a weekly district meeting Wednesday.

Two black males robbed a man sitting on his porch at around 4:20 a.m. on Monday, July 14, Lt. Doug Eckert said at the meeting.

The two suspects pulled up to the victim’s house, located in the 3600 block of Eagle Street, in a white car and approached him while carrying a handgun, according to Eckert.

One of the suspects hit the victim the gun, while the other hit him in the stomach, Eckert said.

The two suspects dragged the victim into the house and searched for money, he said, taking $80 in a drawer near the television in the living room before escaping in the car.

An attempted armed robbery occurred hours later on the same day, police said.

At around 9 a.m. in the 1900 block of Joliet Street, a suspect wearing all black with a face mask and handgun approached three victims, Eckert said.

One of the victims ran away after the suspect patted him down, looking for money, Eckert said.

The suspect then lead the other victims to a house and threatened to shoot them if they didn’t open the door, he added, but ran off after the two victims could not get in.

Eckert said he believes that the suspect involved in the incident on Eagle Street could have been involved in the armed robbery that occurred on Joliet Street hours before. The suspect could have easily walked the distance between Eagle Street and Joliet Street within the timeframe of the crimes, he added.

“It’s not that much of a distance especially when looking at it time wise,” said Eckert.

Eckert said that the suspect’s height is similar to one of the suspects in the armed robbery that happened on Eagle Street.
