A parade-goer was hit in the side by gunfire that appears to have discharged from inside a portable toilet at Napoleon and St. Charles Avenue on Saturday while the Krewe of Tucks rolled by, New Orleans police said.

The victim, a 36-year-old man from Metairie, had not been reportedly arguing or in a dispute with anyone when he realized he had been shot in the side around 2:30 p.m., officials said. Police then found a nearby portable toilet with an apparent bullet hole in the side and what appeared to be gunpowder residue in the interior, suggesting the gun went off in there, officials said.
