Man shot with pellet gun during armed-robbery attempt, police say

A man in his 70s was shot in the arm with a pellet gun by young assailants during a robbery attempt early Wednesday on Earhart Boulevard, New Orleans police said.

The victim was in the 7600 block of Earhart around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, when he was confronted by four juvenile assailants, according to the initial NOPD report.

“One of the juveniles demanded the victim’s money,” the report states. “The victim refused and the juvenile shot the victim in the arm with a pellet gun. The victim pulled mace out of his pocket and the juveniles fled.”

Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
