Man shot to death on Lyons Street

A 47-year-old man was shot to death Monday night on Lyons Street, New Orleans police said.

After reports of a gunfire around 8:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds at the corner of Lyons and Constance streets, according to NOPD reports. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, the report states.

The victim, Leroy Smith, died of gunshot wounds, Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse’s office announced on Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Homicide division at 658-5300 to speak to Detective Thomas Ripp, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
