A man was robbed Tuesday afternoon on Nelson Street by an assailant with a revolver who fought with him for his money, New Orleans police said.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was in the 8200 block of Nelson (just off the intersection of South Claiborne and South Carrollton) around 1:45 p.m. when a stranger asked him for 50 cents, according to the initial NOPD report.

“The perpetrator pulled out a revolver and demanded property. The victim refused and a struggle ensued,” the report states. “The perpetrator took $100 from the victim’s pocket and fled on a bike in unknown direction.”

Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
