A man was killed Friday afternoon in a corner of the Milan neighborhood that has been a recurring site for violence for years, New Orleans police said.

After reports of a shooting around 3:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, officers discovered the unresponsive victim in the intersection of Loyola Avenue and Foucher Street, according to an initial NOPD report. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, the report states.

The blocks around Foucher and South Saratoga streets have been the site of repeated violence for years. In 2014, for example, after three people were killed and five others were wounded in a series of shootings, neighbors rallied for more police presence, and the violence seemed to abate for a time.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Homicide Division at 504-658-5300 to speak to Detective Thaddeus Williams, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
