Man killed in Hickory Street shooting, police say

A 29-year-old man was shot to death Saturday night on Hickory Street in Carrollton, New Orleans police said.

Gunfire broke out shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, near Hickory and Monroe streets, and police arrived to find the victim lying face down in the 8700 block of Hickory, according to the initial NOPD report. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment but later pronounced dead, the report states.

The victim was identified Monday morning as 29-year-old Michael Davis by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s office. The coroner also announced the identities of two other victims of deadly shootings from Friday night: 37-year-old Norma Perez, killed inside her home during a mass shooting on Dryades Street that wounded five other peeople, and 28-year-old Jordan Espadron, who was allegedly trying to rob a T-Mobile store in the 500 block of St. Andrew when a customer fatally shot him.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Homicide Division at 504-658-5300 to speak to Detective Nicholas Williams, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
