A man wielding an assault rifle barged into a Washington Avenue home and robbed two women inside, and two other robberies at gunpoint were reported on Olive and Camp streets overnight, New Orleans police said Friday morning.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, a 22-year-old man was in the 8100 block of Olive Street (near South Carrollton Avenue) when two armed men approached him, according to the initial NOPD report.

“One subject put a gun to the victim’s neck and the other put a gun to his back demanding his backpack and a cell phone,” the report states. “The victim complied and the perpetrators fled.”

Around 10:45 p.m., a 24-year-old woman was getting a computer bag out of the passenger side of her vehicle in the 1900 block of Camp Street (near St. Mary Street) when she was confronted by two men, the report in that case states.

“One of the subjects was armed with a black handgun and demanded money,” the report states. “The victim complied and the perpetrators fled with her purse and her computer bag.”

After the robbery, the victim tried unsuccessfully to follow her attackers, the report notes.

Finally, around 2:45 a.m. Friday, two women — ages 24 and 31 — were in the living room of a home in the 1800 block of Washington (between Baronne and Dryades) when a man armed with an assault rifle barged in from the rear of the home, the report in that case states. He took two purses, a laptop and some cash, the report states.

He was described as a 5-foot-10 black man “with a white shirt over his face wearing green boxers,” the report states.
