The outside travel and parking lanes on both sides of St. Charles Avenue will be closed for the rest of August and much of September for drainage work and road reconstruction, city officials said.

The lane closures between Erato and Euterpe streets will begin Thursday morning and continue for five weeks. For more information, see the announcement from the RoadworkNOLA program below:

Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, August 16 at 7:30 a.m., the City of New Orleans construction contractor, Boh Bros. Construction, LLC, will implement east and west bound lane closures to perform work that will improve drainage on St. Charles Avenue (between Erato to Euterpe streets). Public safety is our priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this construction site.

In order to level the roadway and reconstruct the curbs and sidewalks, both the eastbound and westbound parking and adjacent travel lanes of St. Charles Avenue (Erato to Euterpe streets) will be closed for approximately five weeks. Construction crews will work closely with the businesses along this corridor to allow parking for deliveries.

This work is a part of the $4.3 million St. Charles Avenue (Louisiana Avenue to Calliope Street) repaving project that calls for removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new, smooth pavement from curb-to-curb; installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curbs; and installing ramps at intersections.

For questions and/or concerns about the project, please contact RoadworkNOLA at 504.658.ROAD (7623) or send an e-mail to roadwork@nola.gov.
