Boy, 8, shot in the leg on Monroe Street, police say

An 8-year-old boy was shot in the leg late Wednesday afternoon on Monroe Street, New Orleans police said.

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, shots rang out in the 1400 block of Monroe Street (near Willow), and the victim arrived at the hospital shortly afterward in a private vehicle, said NOPD spokeswoman Ambria Washington. The boy had been shot in the leg, Washington said.
