A man was robbed of his car at gunpoint Monday evening on Dryades Street, and a teenager was shot shortly afterward on Martin Luther King Boulevard, New Orleans police said.

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, a man in his 40s was in the back of a location in the 3200 block of Dryades Street when two men entered with guns and demanded his belongings, according to the initial NOPD report.

“One of the suspects reached into the victim’s right front pocket, taking cash, both of his iPhones, and his car keys,” the report states. “One of the suspects fled the location in the victim’s vehicle and the other suspect fled in a grey Toyota 4Runner.”

Around 8:20 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Simon Bolivar Avenue when he heard multiple gunshots ring out and began running, the report in that case states. He then realized he was shot, so he got a ride to the hospital in a private vehicle, the report states.

Further details were not immediately available in either case. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Sixth District station at 658-6060 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
