A couple armed with a shotgun and a pistol chased an intruder out of their State Street home overnight, and investigators are now hoping surveillance photos of the burglar will lead to his identification, New Orleans police said.

The man walked into the home in the 1700 block of State Street around 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, while the owners were upstairs, said NOPD Detective Brandon Singleton. He then noticed an indoor surveillance camera and tried to remove the memory card from it, Singleton said, but the images of him had already been stored.

While he was in the room, the residents came downstairs — one armed with a shotgun and the other with a pistol, Singleton said, and the intruder fled.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
