A 26-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint while she was riding her bike in the Carrollton area just before midnight Thursday, New Orleans police said.
She had stopped to check her phone on the corner of South Carrollton Avenue and Burthe Street when someone approached her from behind and demanded her belongings, according to Officer Garry Flot.
Police said the woman complied and the subject fled.
riding her bike at midnight, stopped to use her cell…..I bet there is a lesson to learn here.
The young woman is lucky to be alive. Anyone riding a bicycle alone at midnight needs to get their head examined.
Thank goodness she’s o.k.
She shouldn’t have stopped to use her cell, but not everyone gets off work at 5:00 pm and not everyone has cars.
She had not been working. Visiting a friend.
Again, not everyone has cars or can afford cabs. I have been there.
Then do not visit the friend. Do not put yourself in this situation. Angie, please don’t get me wrong, it was a horrible thing that happened to her, she has the right to be by herself anywhere at any hour. But this is not the city to exercise that right. You know I’m right.
