The victims — a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man — were at home in the 1200 block of Lowerline (between Oak and Plum streets) around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, when three or four assailants kicked in the door, one wielding a gun, according to NOPD and Tulane University police reports. The intruders searched the victims’ bedrooms, then took a laptop, two cell phones and an Xbox before leaving in a dark blue or black Nissan Altima with temporary tags toward St. Charles Avenue, the police reports state.
Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
Previously in the evening, a man in his late 40s was attacked and robbed of his wallet around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of St. Andrew Street (near Clara Street), according to a separate NOPD report. Two men hit the victim several times, then took his wallet from his back pocket and left, the report states.
That incident, classified as a simple robbery, is being investigated by the NOPD Sixth District, which can be reached at 658-6060.
