The Tulane University Police Department (TUPD) and PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans (PJ’s) will to host the first “Coffee With a Cop” program at 5 p.m. on October 26. The program is an opportunity for community members to come together with the TUPD in an informal space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.
PJ’s Coffee will supply free 12oz. hot coffee and cold brew iced coffee to attendees (while supplies last). All community members are invited to attend.
“Coffee With a Cop” takes place Wednesday, October 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the PJ’s Coffee at Willow and McAlister Streets (6501 Willow Street).
“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our officers,” said TUPD said Sgt. Roger Barnes. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
