Raids on two Uptown addresses, an apartment on St. Charles Avenue and a house on Soniat Street, led police Monday to a stash of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms and a gun, authorities said Tuesday.
Officers were called to the apartment at 2900 St. Charles about the possibility of a marijuana-growing operation, and when they arrived found several small marijuana plants under lighting in plain view, NOPD Sixth District Commander Robert Bardy said in an email. During their investigation, they learned that drugs were also being stored at a house at 2704 Soniat Street and searched that location as well, Bardy said.
Seized in the operation were:
- 17 marijuana plants in varying stages of maturity
- 16 “grow” jars containing psychedelic mushrooms in varying stages of growth
- Several packaged mason jars containing marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms
- Taurus 9-mm semi-automatic handgun
- Three vials of crystal meth
- Hydroponic “grow box” and complete hydroponic grow set up
- $124 in cash
Miguel Molina, 27, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cultivation or marijuana, possession of psilocybin, possession of methamphetamines, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a firearm with narcotics.
They must have missed the Purse snatcher that ran pass them while they were busting the druggie.
The vials did not contain crystal meth. This is police work at its most assumptive.
