Jewish Community Center to host ‘Coats for Kids’ benefit concert

JCC logoThe New Orleans Jewish Community Center, located at 5342 St. Charles Avenue, will host the annual benefit concert, “Coats For Kids”. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on November 16 (tonight) and will feature performances by Germaine Bazzle, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and more.

The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are asked to bring new or gently used winter coats to be donated to Firstline Schools. For more information, see the full press release below:

The New Orleans Jewish Community Center is pleased to host Dr. Jee-Yeoun Ko’s annual benefit concert, Coats For Kids. Featuring the diverse talents of jazz legend Germaine Bazzle, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, pianist Michael Pellera, guitarist Javier Olondo, and the Faubourg Quartet, this incredible concert will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. Arrive early to enjoy special performances by some very talented students in NOCCA’s Classical Instrumental Program, who will perform at the Uptown JCC’s front entrance beginning at 6:30 p.m. While the event is free and open to the community, attendees are asked to bring a new or gently used winter coat to donate. Children’s and adult sizes are both appreciated. Coats will be donated to Firstline Schools, which operates five open enrollment public charter schools in New Orleans.

Coats For Kids was organized by cellist Dr. Jee-Yeoun Ko, chair of the Classical Instrumental department at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and founder of the Faubourg Quartet. The organization’s mission is to provide new winter coats to children in need. This benefit concert is presented as part of the New Orleans JCC’s annual Cathy and Morris Bart Jewish Cultural Arts Series.

The Jewish Community Center of New Orleans is a non-profit organization that continues to serve the entire New Orleans community with quality programming in the areas of pre-school education, daycare, summer programming, adult programming, physical education, public affairs, political forums, lectures and especially Jewish education.
