The 40th annual B’nai B’rith Mardi Gras Mitzva Makers Hospital Parade, originally set for Feb. 10, has been changed to the following Sunday, Feb. 17, due to citywide road closures.
The Mitzva Makers gather at the Touro Infirmary’s Prytania Street entrance, 3500 Prytania, at 9:30 a.m.. The parade starts at 10 a.m.
The Mitzva Makers bring Mardi Gras to patients in long-term care and rehabilitation, who likely will not be able to experience Carnival anytime soon. Nearby Cura Health Hospital and Home Life in the Gardens on Aline Street also participate in the parade.
All participants are costumed. The parade includes a second-line band and is led by Dr. Hilton Title, the annual event coordinator.
