Suspect sought in tool-belt theft on Jeanette

A tool belt was taken from home under renovation in the Leonidis neighborhood, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A suspect in the Feb. 18 burglary was seen in surveillance photos.

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in identifying and locating the suspect wanted in connection with the simple burglary incident that occurred in the 8500 block of Jeannette Street.

The victim told police that at around 2:05 p.m. on Feb. 18, he left his vacant residence for construction supplies.

Upon returning to the location around 2:35 p.m., he reportedly observed a white F-150 pickup truck fleeing from the residence. The victim reportedly entered the residence and discovered his tool belt had been taken.

Through further investigation, officers reviewed still images from surveillance footage in the area and observed an unknown white male, wearing a black sweatshirt, black shorts and black and white tennis, standing next to a white Ford F-150 with a tool belt in his hand. The man was then observed entering the vehicle and fleeing the location.
