School officials are holding a planning meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the Paul L. Dunbar school building, which will be the future home of Benjamin Banneker school. The meeting will be at Cypress Manor Community Center, 3613 Cambronne St., and the public is encouraged to attend.

Does anyone know what’s going to happen to the building where Banneker is currently located?
It is still there as Benjamin Banneker Elementary School on Burdette. But the school is in need of renovations and it to small for the number of students enrolled. Also Orleans Public Schools, in general, are going through renovations, and some will be moved to new sites permanently while others will be renovated, and then moved back to their previous sites upon completion.
