J’Anitas has launched a curiously named satellite — Stihl-Moore J’Anitas — at Grits bar on Lyons Street, while Martinique Bistro chef Matthew Kopfler has launched his PPX pop-up on Wednesdays at F&M Patio Bar, at the end of the block on Tchoupitoulas, writes Ian McNulty of Gambit.
How about a feature on the new, so-called pop-up restaurants. They serve out of regular restaurants on nights when the restaurants are normally be closed. I ate at McClure’s Barbecue, serving at Dante’s Kitchen on Tuesday nights when Dante’s is closed. It’s operated by Neil McClure, Dante’s manager, and his food was excellent–pulled pork, chicken, beef brisket, 4-cheese macaroni and a jalapeno cornbread that is fantastic. It’s all served family style, and lots of families were there. It’s a winner. But there are others in Uptown, and I’d like to see a feature on them all.
