Partying in the streets, a New Orleans specialty, will be full force this week in celebration of St. Partrick’s Day. There are multiple opportunities in the Irish Channel to celebrate your Irish roots, or someone else’s Irish roots, or just the fact that there is an Ireland.
Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club Block Party
Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Free music and entertainment. Food and beverages are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting St. Michael Special School. It’s held in Annunciation Square at Annunciation and Race streets.
Parasol’s Block Party
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Music and green beer abound at this traditional St. Patrick’s Day gathering, held on the day of the Irish Channel Parade. Parasol’s Bar and Restaurant is at 2533 Constance St., corner of Third Street.
Tracey’s Block Parties
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
On Saturday, Tracey’s has a prime vantage point to watch the Irish Channel Parade. And Sunday is actually St. Patrick’s Day. The parties will feature music with a DJ as well as green beer and green Jell-o shots, along with corned beef and cabbage, its famous roast-beef and shrimp poor boys, and more. Tracey’s Original Irish Channel Bar is at 2604 Magazine St., corner of Third Street.
