36 hours Uptown: NOPD marches against Riverbend crime; Lower Garden District hears about school site

Amid the usual complement of civic meetings, this week marks the return of the NOPD monthly marches against crime with a Tuesday evening march through the Riverbend.

Also on Tuesday evening, Audubon Charter School will present its plans for a temporary campus for the next two years in the Lower Garden District.

Tuesday

  • Blightstat – open meeting of city officials to discuss progress in anti-blight strategy. 8 a.m., ninth-floor conference room at 1340 Poydras.
  • City Council budget committee will hear reports on the Tax Fairness Commission, Mardi Gras expenditures, gas prices and other topics. 9 a.m., council chambers, 1300 Perdido St.
  • Crescent City Farmers’ Market (Uptown). 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (weekly), Tulane Square, corner of Leake and Broadway.
  • New Parenting Group. 10:30 a.m. (weekly), Uptown Parenting Center, 938 Calhoun St.
  • Hollygrove Farmers Market. 12-6 p.m., 8301 Olive Street
  • Trinity Artist Series: “Organ & Labyrinth.” 6 p.m. (weekly), Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue.
  • Story Time at Latter Library. 10:30 a.m. Latter Library, 5120 St Charles.
  • City Planning Commission: agenda includes properties in the CBD, on Esplanade Avenue and elsewhere. 1:30 p.m. City Council chamber, 1300 Perdido St.
  • NOPD Second District anti-crime march. Begins at 6 p.m. at Pine and Hampson and ends at Hampson and Lowerline.
  • Audubon Charter School temporary site meeting: Residents of the Lower Garden District will hear the school’s plans to build a temporary campus on what is now an empty lot. 6:30 p.m. Sixth Baptist Church, 928 Felicity.
