Five’s remnants cause flooding woes

The heavy rain brought by Tropical Depression Five‘s slow-moving remnants caused severe flooding throughout the Uptown, leaving residents angry about the city’s drainage problems.

The floodwaters assaulted Uptown homes and stranded residents’ cars, according to video reports filed by several local TV stations.

WVUE began their reporting at Claiborne and Carrollton, then filed another video from Willow and Audubon.

WWL noted the link between Thursday’s flooding and a recent Bureau of Governmental Research report on the city’s $1.4 billion in needed street and drainage repairs. Their reporting was based on State Street:

WVUE later followed up on its own report, noting that the flooding occurred despite all the city’s pumping stations working at capacity.
