Police blotter: Woman carjacked in Garden District; Freret Street business robbed

A woman was carjacked mid-day Wednesday (Aug. 24) in the Garden District, and a business was robbed that night on Freret Street. The carjacking victim was in the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue at about 1:15 p.m. when a teenage boy approached. He knocked on her passenger-side window and brandished a weapon, police said. The victim got out of her car and let the carjacker enter.

Police blotter: Shooting, carjacking, two robberies

A shooting, carjacking and three robberies were reported Uptown since Friday (April 1). A 49-year-old man was injured in shooting Monday afternoon (April 4). He was fighting with another man at about 3:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of Washington Avenue, near the cemeteries in Central City. The man took out a gun, shot the 49-year-old in the leg and fled. The Emergency Medical Service took the victim to the hospital.

Two carjackings and three robberies, including an armed vehicle theft, were reported in Uptown neighborhoods during the past weekend. One of the carjackings was foiled in the Freret area. The victims in that incident were two 55-year-old women and a 22-year-old man. They were in a car in the 2200 block of Valmont Street, between LaSalle and Freret streets, at about 4 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12) when a black sedan drove up.

Two women and a man were injured this week in separate shootings within blocks of each other on a well-traveled thoroughfare separating the Broadmoor and Hoffman Triangle neighborhoods. The first shooting occurred on Tuesday (June 13) at about 10 p.m., the New Orleans Police Department said. The victims, a 34-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were inside a vehicle in the 3400 block of Toledano when an unknown gunman fired shots into their car. Both were injured in the shootings.

Five robberies, an attempted carjacking and a stabbing were reported to the New Orleans Police Department over the weekend.Around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday (June 10), a man and a 54-year-old woman were in an argument in the 8600 block of Oleander Street when the man hit the woman in the face repeatedly. He then grabbed her phone out of her pocket and ran away. On Saturday (June 12) a 28-year-old man was working in the 4000 block of South Robertson Street. He went back to his car around 5 p.m. and was approached by two other men. One of them pulled a gun and demanded he hand over his car keys and other property, so he did so.

A 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a teenager were at Jackson Avenue and South Saratoga Street at about 7 p.m. when a man walked up and began firing a gun. All three victims were struck. The Emergency Medical Service took two of the victims to the emergency room, and a third arrived in a private vehicle.

Police blotter: Two cars and a backpack stolen on Uptown streets

A man and woman were carjacked Monday night on Magazine Street and two men were robbed in separate incidents Sunday night on South Claiborne Avenue, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The carjacking occurred Monday (May 24) in the 2200 block of Magazine Street, near Jackson Avenue. The victims were a man, 53, and a woman, 23. The 53-year-old was in a Toyota Camry at about 9:30 p.m. when a man entered the car through driver’s door while another man punched him in face. The man was thrown out of the driver’s seat, and the two carjackers drove away in the victims’ white 2014 Toyota Camry with Louisiana license plate YMB 725.
