A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting on Clara Street on Monday, and a 79-year-old woman was robbed at her Hollygrove home on Sunday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The shooting victim, a 27-year-old man, was sitting in front of his home in the 3700 block of Clara, near Louisiana Avenue, at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, when a car approached, police said. Someone fired multiple shots from inside the car, striking the victim. He was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.
A 77-year-old man was knocked off his scooter and robbed Wednesday afternoon in Hollygrove, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The victim was riding a scooter at Nelson and Joliet streets at about 12:20 p.m. when he was approached by two men, described as in their 20s, riding bicycles. One assailant knocked the 77-year-old to the ground, and the other grabbed the wallet from his pocket. The victim refused treatment from Emergency Medical Services, police said. A 59-year-old woman was hit over the head and robbed in the Milan neighborhood early Wednesday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The victim was approached by a man asking for a cigarette and money at about 4:30 a.m. on Louisiana Avenue and Carondelet Street, police said. She refused, and the assailant struck her over the head. On Friday afternoon, a man helping a stranger who professed to be a Vietnam veteran was robbed at his home near Audubon Park, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 62-year-old man responded to a knock on his door in the 300 block of Broadway at about 3:30 p.m. to find a stranger who, saying he had served in Vietnam, professed to be stranded and asked for money to get home. The victim let the man inside and went to get his wallet. In the meantime, the intruder rummaged through the living room and found a box of cash.
A man was robbed on the street early Thursday on St. Charles Avenue in the Milan neighborhood, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The 39-year-old was dropped off at St. Charles and Delachaise Street just before 1 a.m. when he was approached by the robber, who grabbed his cellphone and wallet and fled. Further details were not immediately available.
A man walking in Central City on Friday was jumped by four men who stole his phone, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The victim, a 23-year-old male, was near Magnolia Street and Felicity Street when a man hit him on the head with a bag, knocking him down. Three other men then went through his pockets and stole his iPhone 7. The victim described one of the attackers as a tall, bearded dark-skinned black man of medium build wearing a red shirt and a black backpack. No description was given for the other attackers.
