Report: Rex and Kern Studios are severing ties after more than 65 years

After creating some of the most iconic images of Carnival together, the Rex organization and Kern Studios are ending their nearly seven-decades-long partnership, Dominic Massa of WWL-TV reports, after this year’s parade rolls with Kern-built floats themed “Visions of the Sun.” For at least the next five years, beginning with the 2020 parade, Rex will use another builder. The krewe said it will announce its new partnership after Mardi Gras, although Proteus’ float builder Royal Artists posted on its Facebook page: “We are pleased to be working for The King of Carnival 2020 and beyond. We are very excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
