Police blotter: Woman abducted in Fontainebleau; bullet strikes man on Claiborne

A shooting and a kidnapping were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the weekend, according to the New Orleans Police Report. The kidnapping occurred early Sunday (April 23) in the Fontainebleau area. The victim, a 35-year-old woman, was giving a man a ride home at about 3:20 a.m.

When they arrived at Earhart Boulevard and Broadway, he took out a gun and demanded that she keep driving. She drove around the area until they reached South Carrollton Avenue and Walmsley Street, where she jumped out of the car. The kidnapper got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police blotter: Man carjacked, two children kidnapped, woman robbed

A carjacking, a kidnapping and an armed robbery were reported recently in Uptown neighborhoods. The carjacking occurred Monday evening (Sept. 19) in the Lower Garden District. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was at St. James and Religious street at about 7:45 p.m. when a man approached, indicated he was armed and motioned for him to exit the vehicle.

NOPD arrests 15-year-old linked to 10-hour crime spree

NOPD Seventh District officers arrested a 15-year-old male on June 6 linked to a weekend 10-hour crime spree that included incidents that occurred Uptown on South Claiborne Avenue. He was arrested in New Orleans East in connection to an armed robbery in the 5800 block of Read Boulevard. The Seventh District detectives determined the juvenile is a suspect in a crime spree that stretched from Saturday (June 5) to Sunday (June 6). 

Two incidents connected to the juvenile occurred near South Claiborne and Jackson avenues. 

Two 21-year-old women were kidnapped in the 2100 block of South Claiborne over the weekend in one of the crimes linked to the juvenile. NOPD reports that the kidnapper demanded the victims drive him to a location in New Orleans East. Once they arrived, he reportedly robbed the victims of their cash and fled. 

A hit-and-run vehicle crash at the intersection of South Claiborne and Jackson avenues is also connected to the juvenile. 

Police also accused the juvenile of multiple incidents in New Orleans East, including an armed robbery in the 4500 block of Michoud Boulevard and an attempted armed carjacking in the 5800 block of Read Boulevard.

Police seek help identifying suspects in attempted kidnapping of 7-year-old

The NOPD is seeking assistance in locating and identifying two suspects sought in an attempted kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl in Hollygrove on Nov. 29. At about 6:20 p.m. the girl was playing near Gen. Ogden and Olive streets. An unknown man driving a white van with a ladder on the roof then allegedly exited his vehicle and approached the child. The suspect then reportedly grabbed the girl by the arm and began to pull her toward the van.

Police blotter: 7-year-old escapes kidnapping; gunman returns property he stole

A 7-year-old girl escaped two assailants Friday evening in Hollygrove, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The child was outside in the 8900 block of Olive Street at about 6:20 p.m. on Friday when she was approached by two men in a vehicle. One man got out of the car, grabbed her and threatened to rape her. She escaped on foot, and the two men fled in the car. Armed robber changes bis mind
A 28-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint by a teenager in the Freret neighborhood, according to the NOPD.

NOPD: Lower Garden District man facing litany of charges held relative against his will

The NOPD arrested Sean Carter, 24, on June 30 on numerous charges stemming from an aggravated assault that occurred in the 900 block of Saint Mary Street on June 29. Carter was allegedly holding a family member, a 41-year-old man, against his will inside the residence. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Carter and a search warrant for the residence. Detectives were able to persuade Carter to release the victim and to surrender himself, which he did without any further incident. Upon executing the search warrant with the assistance of Sixth District Task Force officers, detectives located five firearms within the home, two which were reported stolen from outside of Orleans Parish.

Two arrested in aggravated burglary of Fontainebleau home

Two men were arrested after a Fontainebleau resident was held in his home by two intruders demanding money, the New Orleans Police Department reported. Two men barged into the victim’s home in the 4400 block of Gen. Pershing Street armed with a baseball bat at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, the police report states. They demanded money, but the victim, a 54-year-old man, said he didn’t have any cash. The intruders then forced the victim onto the bed and threatened to return with guns. They said they would remain in the home until the victim was paid the next day.

Kidnapping reported in Hollygrove

A 24-year-old woman reported a kidnapping Sunday afternoon in Hollygrove, according to the New Orleans Police Department. A man returned the victim’s vehicle to her home at Forshey and Gen. Ogden streets on April 28 at about 3 p.m. She got into the driver’s seat to prevent him from taking the car again. When she began to drive off, he forced her into the passenger seat and forced himself into the driver seat. He then drove the vehicle into a rock and fled on foot. Further details were not immediately available.
