Two people die in separate Central City shootings

Two deadly shootings were reported Saturday (Jan. 6)  in Central City, according to the New Orleans Police Department. A 27-year-old woman was killed Saturday evening in the 2700 block of Washington Avenue. Sixth District officers arrived at the scene at about 6:15 p.m. and found her on the sidewalk  with multiple gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene.

Mass shooting in Central City leaves two dead, three injured

Two men died and three people were injured Thursday night (Jan. 5) in gunfire that erupted in Central City, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. at St. Andrew Street and Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way. Sixth District officers responding to reports of a shooting found five victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Hoffman Triangle sees two deadly shootings in one day

Two fatal shootings were reported in Hoffman Triangle neighborhood on Friday (Aug. 26). The first occurred mid-day in the 2800 block of South Johnson Street. At about 1:25 pm., officers responding to a call found a man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.

Two shooting deaths reported in 8 hours in Uptown neighborhoods

A man was shot to death in Hoffman Triangle just before midnight on Thursday (July 14). The next morning, another man was killed by gunfire in the Leonidas neighborhood. Police found a man on the ground in the 2800 block of South Rocheblave Street at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, the NOPD reported. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, police said, and died at the scene. Near Claiborne and South Carrollton avenues the next morning, another man was found dead with a gunshot wound.

Victims identified in Olive Street, MLK Boulevard homicides

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of two recent homicides in Uptown neighborhoods. Cleve Baham, was shot to death in Gert Town on Friday (Aug. 7), according to police reports. Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 7900 block of Olive Street at 9:10 p.m. found Baham suffering from gunshot wounds. The Emergency Medical Service took him to the hospital, where he died.

Three shootings, two of them fatal, reported within hours Friday on Uptown streets

Two men were killed Friday in separate shootings, one in the Milan neighborhood and another in Central City. On the same day, two bystanders were injured in another Central City shooting. At about 8:44 p.m., after an especially violent day in Uptown and across the city, two men were arguing inside a car parked in the 2000 block of Foucher Street. One of them opened fire, striking the other. NOPD Sixth District officers responding to a call of shots fired in the block discovered an unresponsive male on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

Central City homicide suspect arrested: NOPD

On Monday (Feb. 18), New Orleans police arrested Norman Lee, 23, regarding the recent homicide near the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Freret St. NOPD Sixth District officers discovered a 34-year-old male victim lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head the day prior. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Man found dead in pickup on Austerlitz Street with gunshot wound to his head

Police officers found a man bleeding from the head in a pickup truck early Saturday in the East Riverside neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The injury was later learned to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the incident was determined to be a homicide. The Sixth District officers were responding to a call of a male down Feb. 16 at 7:04 a.m. in the 600 block of Austerlitz Street, near Annunciation Street.

Man shot to death in Central City

A man was shot to death in Central City on Thursday night, the New Orleans Police Department reported. Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at 6:58 p.m. in the 2100 block of Thalia Street. They discovered an adult black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim died at the scene. The Orleans Parish coroner’s office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Fatal shooting on Broadway Street under investigation, police say

New Orleans Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Broadway Street that occurred today (Tuesday, Sept. 4). The shooting, now designated a homicide, was reported in the 3000 block of Broadway (between Fig and Colapissa streets), NOPD Officer Juan Barnes Sr. said. According to reports, Second District officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Broadway Street to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 12:18 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 25-year-old male lying face up in the grass, in front of a residence. The victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.
